Probate and Letters of Administration

Probate and Letters of Administration

Probate is a legal document certifying that a Will is valid, allowing the Executor to administer the estate. Letters of administration are issued where the deceased has left no valid Will.

As an Executor of an estate, you may need to take steps to obtain Probate. For example, if the deceased owned real estate as a sole proprietor or as a ‘tenant in common’, then Probate is compulsory.

In certain circumstances, banks may also require Probate to allow access to the deceased’s bank accounts. Probate is also required to access nursing home refundable deposits. We can assist in making application for grants of Probate or Letters of Administration from the Supreme Court Probate Office.
